The aesthetic industry in Ireland is growing rapidly, yet it remains one of the least regulated sectors in healthcare. Unlike countries with formal registers for aesthetic practitioners, Ireland has no dedicated regulatory body for non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Anti-wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medicine, so they are given by doctors and dentists, or by nurses acting on their direction. Dermal fillers have no such legal restriction: anyone, regardless of qualifications, can legally inject them.

For consumers, this creates a significant safety gap. How do you know if the person injecting your face is a qualified doctor, a registered nurse, or someone with a weekend certificate? How do you distinguish between a practitioner on a professional register and one who is not?

SafeSkin was created to bridge that gap. We built a directory that exclusively lists practitioners who are confirmed on one of Ireland's three recognised healthcare registers: the Medical Council of Ireland, the Dental Council of Ireland, or the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). If a practitioner is not on one of these registers, they are not on SafeSkin.

Our goal is simple: give Irish consumers a free, trustworthy tool to find qualified aesthetic practitioners near them. We do not guarantee treatment outcomes or endorse specific clinics — but we do guarantee that every practitioner listed on our platform is a regulated healthcare professional.
